Mick Jagger Honors Late Girlfriend L'Wren Scott on Her Birthday

His love is strong. Mick Jagger paid tribute to his late girlfriend, fashion designer L'Wren Scott, on what would have been her 51st birthday, Tuesday, April 28. The former model died of an apparent suicide a little over a year ago, leaving Jagger stunned and heartbroken.

In memory of his longtime love, the Rolling Stones rocker took to Twitter with a picture of her as a young woman. The shot, taken by photographer Jean Pigozzi, shows Scott sitting on a rolling desk chair in a short skirt, her long legs angled away from the camera.

"Remembering L'Wren on her birthday," Jagger, 71, wrote.

Scott was 49 when she was found dead in her New York City apartment on March 17, 2014. After her passing, the Stones frontman took to Facebook to grieve his loss, and to honor Scott's life and career.

"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way," he wrote at the time. "We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves." (The two began dating in 2001.)

"She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me," he added. "I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support I have received. I will never forget her."
